Yes -- we saw it.

Have no fear... we have seen the news reports and heard the chatter about the Bumbo seat being recalled. How upset we were when it was announced... this is Charlotte's favorite! However, I have done alot of reading on the recall and they have approved for the Bumbo seats to continue being used -- but properly. We have never left Charlotte unattended or on high surfaces. She is still in the proper weight and age range (which was another problem... big kids using it) and as long as she is following the guidelines -- she can still use it!

No worries!! Thanks for all the emails and calls of concern!

latest stats...

We went today for Charlotte's 4 month appointment!! Can you believe its been 4 months?!? She had a great check up - and a great report. Even after 3 shots she was a champ and only cried for a second until she discovered the painted fish on the wall beside her! Those fish take all the pain away!

Race for the Cure 2007

As Charlotte's first charitable event - we recently walked the Lowcountry Komen Race for the Cure. We had the stroller to cater to Charlotte - but she wanted to be part of the action, and ride in the baby bjorn with daddy! She loved the sun and all the people. She was dressed for the occasion - all pink - in support of Breast Cancer awareness, but her cuteness was just too much to take -- she passed out in the carrier after the first mile! She took a nap, and woke up just in time to go through the finish line. What a trooper! We walked in honor of MM's cousin Dana and Wes's grandmother, Mum... true inspirations to us all! Here are some pictures!

NC visit pictures

HOMECOMING '07

Lenoir-Rhyne had their Homecoming this past weekend. We all made the trek up to Hickory for the festivites and an extra day thrown in so we could show Charlotte off to the locals!! She had a blast and did great! So many people, so many new things, and the coldest temperatures she has ever felt (in her lifetime at least)! Charlotte saw her first parade (momma maggie and papa tony were riding in it), went to a BBQ, met mommy's college friends, went downtown to The Jackson Group, went to the mall, met lots of family friends, saw the NC mountains, met more family in Lenoir, and still managed to look cute during all of it!

Here are several pics from the weekend...

A week of birthdays!

This past week we went to two birthday parties! One for our neighbor Alexa who turned 1, the other was a joint party for some more neighbors - Conley and Hughes - who both turned 2.

While Charlotte couldn't enjoy the cake or treats, she loves being around the other kids and all that excitement! I can't wait until she can experience it for herself!!

Date night --

another fun time with Jack!

newest activity

Charlotte is very very vocal these days. In between those adorable smiles she gives she is talking "charlotte talk" which is basically cooing and vowel sounds. She enjoys her "tummy time" and will happily tell you all about her day for as long as you'll listen. She'll go back and forth with us... Charlotte says, "Ahhhhugghh", Mommy and Daddy say, "Really? Tell me about it". And then she does -- in her on language of course. I can't wait to ask her one day what she has been saying all this time!! haha! What a fun stage we are entering!

Such a happy baby

Charlotte and Jack -- BFF

What a lucky little girl -- only 3 months old and she already has a best friend. Meet Jack. Jack is the son of our friends Jake and Robyn who we actually met in our birthing class! Robyn and MM were due the same week, but Charlotte came a week early, and Jack came 2 weeks late! None the less - a match has been made - and the Moms would love nothing more than our little ones to grow up together! They have already shared many adventures; including a movie date, playtime at each others house, and a day at the mall where they met the Chick-Fil-A cow!

In the pics, you will see Wes holding Jack, Robyn holding Charlotte, then the Dads holding their respective children!

Generations...

Charlotte is so lucky to have lots of people who love her but some very special people have made the trek to visit with her already... her great-grandmothers! Wes's grandmother "Mum", and MM's, "Mama J". Charlotte can't wait to meet the rest of her loving family!

(Charlotte and Mama J are 90 years difference in age! Amazing!)

Red Bird

When we were pregnant, our favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series. We are originally from North Carolina and our state bird is the Cardinal. MM's family affectionately calls her "Bird" from a famous childhood story. All these things lead to us calling our unborn child a "little red bird". Cute, huh? Well - little did we know our baby would be born with RED HAIR!! That's right! Red hair and blue eyes... too cute. Everyone says we will just have to wait and see what happens to the color and texture, but nothing has changed thus far -- its gotten longer, fuller, curlier (after a bath) and REDDER (if that's even a word)!! We aren't quite sure where it came from... Wes and I both have a tinge of red in certain lights - as well as some other family members do too -- but nothing like Miss Charlottes!! Red Bird really seems fitting now!!

little Johns Island girl...

In her first week home -- she became a star! Pictures galore!

Welcome to the Family, Charlotte!

CHARLOTTE MARIE BAKER

Its a girl!!! Charlotte Marie Baker was born June 26th, 2007 at 9:18pm. She weighed 9 pounds even and 21 inches long!

Even though mommy ended up having to have a c-section after a long day of laboring, it was well worth every second!

On the way to the hospital!!

Here is a picture mom took as we were leaving for the hospital!! Almost baby time!
